Back in the day, when he was an electrical apprentice, Michael Gillmeister also moonlighted as a bar man at the Narrabeen Sands Hotel. It was local, it was fun, and it was to be his professional sliding door moment.

Time after time, when equipment broke down, he noticed the bigger problem was deciding which trade to call in for the repair. Sometimes the staff got it right, but more often than not they got it wrong, leading to double call-out costs, and annoying repair delays affecting the hotel's bottom line.

Realising how good it'd be for hotel staff to eliminate the issue altogether, as soon as he qualified as an electrician he went back to the books, doing his refrigeration apprenticeship at a business specialising in hotel refrigeration and beer plumbing. Along the way he managed to turn himself into a very useful person to have around a pub.

Fast forward nearly twenty years and Michael's become one of Sydney's most knowledgeable 'fridgies', and Gillmeister Pty Ltd is the business of choice for some of Sydney's most popular and iconic watering holes.
